Much to do in 2013-14

VALDOSTA — “Arcadia”: By Tom Stoppard. Synopsis: “‘Arcadia’ transports us delightfully between 1809 and the present, puzzling over the nature of truth and time, the amusing differences between the Romantic and Modern, and the disruptive influence of ‘carnal embrace’ on our orbits in life.” Lab Theatre. Run dates: Feb. 20-26.

“Evita”: Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Tim Rice. Synopsis: “‘Evita’ tells the story of Eva Peron, the second wife of Argentine President Juan Peron. The Tony Award-winning musical was revived on Broadway in 2012 and was also a feature film. Rising from the slums of Argentina, Eva Peron became one of the most powerful women in the world. Emerging Artists Showcase: Synopsis: “VSU Theatre and Dance audiences have long enjoyed watching our students as they progress through their programs of study. Begun a short time ago, with the Emerging Artists Showcase, audiences can enjoy a performance or two of contrasting programs. One program features our students graduating from the musical theatre program, the other performance includes students in other programs of study in our degree programs. Each performance of the showcase will spotlight our outstanding students.” Sawyer Theatre. Run dates: April 17-20.
