ADEL — After winning regional AA for best show, Cook High School Theatre Wing competed in state competition this past weekend, placing fourth with “The Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged.”

CHS Theatre Wing Director Jeremy Williams said Wednesday that in addition to the regional overall champion win and the fourth-place state standing, student performer Seth Bryan won regional best actor and student performer Connor Rentz was named to the regional all-star cast.

CHS also took the three-man show to the Georgia Theatre Conference in Kingsland where Jacob Mitchell was named to the all-star cast.

Playwrights Daniel Singer, Jess Winfield and Adam Long’s “The Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged” is a whirlwind parody of a show that mixes contemporary pop culture references along with sketches that touch upon all of William Shakespeare’s tragedies and comedies. The show proved so popular in Adel that Cook presented the show for an encore performance last week.

CHS Theatre Wing’s next performance is “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” scheduled for Dec. 5, 6, Carolyn Harris Performing Arts Center, Cook High School, Adel.
