The Valdosta Daily Times
Colson Printing Calendar 2014 is available. It features works from 13 local and regional artists selected from entries in the 2013 Spring Into Art show several months ago at the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts.
Colson has been making selections for its calendars during the annual Spring Into Art exhibits since 1992. In addition to the show awarding prizes, being chosen for the calendar has become a prestigious honor for participating artists.
Calendar judges selected 13 works this year, one for each month and the cover. Many of the artists should be familiar to area art lovers this year. Seven of the works are by Lowndes County artists.
The 2014 Colson Calendar artists are “Thunderbirds,” Paul Leavy, Valdosta (cover); “Flamingo Fascination,” Jewelene B. Sweat, Waycross (January); “A Foggy Day at Grand Bay,” Gretchen B. McCoy, Valdosta (February); “Marching Into Battle,” Sally Turner Querin, Valdosta (March); “Dogwood Bouquet,” Ollene Osborne, Nashville (April); “View of Davis Electric and Rail Line,” Todd Wessel, Valdosta (May); “Long Legs,” Rosemary S. Ferguson, Tallahassee, Fla. (June); “Open for Business,” Philip Bagrow, Columbia, S.C. (July); “Cove Mooring,” Don Pettigrew, Valdosta (August); “The Mission Trip,” Harold Griner, Lake Butler Fla. (September); “Caro de Cuba,” Guy Bryant, Valdosta (October); “Inheritance,” Anda Chance, McAlpin, Fla. (November); “Christmas in the Rockies,” Joe Morgan, Valdosta (December).
In addition to the art, the calendar includes Colson Printing’s new logo and new slogan: “Expert Publishing. Listening to You.”
“After 30 years, we felt it was time for a facelift and a renewed commitment to all of you,” Wendy Colson notes in the calendar. He notes that Colson’s offers more accessible website offerings for orders and more. Colson Printing offers everything from business cards to fine art reproductions.
