All winners in the VHS art show

VALDOSTA — Judging the Valdosta High School art show is no easy feat.

Teachers Teresa Middleton and Joanne Adams asked me to judge the contest. These VHS art teachers do their work well, but for a judge who must select about a handful of winners from the newer art students, and another handful from the advanced students, Middleton and Adams have done their jobs too well.

Especially in the advanced drawing category.

Drawing seems to be the students’ preferred choice, and the category included works in pencil, ink, chalk, pastels, color pencils, and charcoal. Adams said the advanced students challenge one another through their drawings. One student achieves something, other students strive to match it, until another student leaps to the next level.

Selecting a few winners from this series of accomplished drawings was a definite challenge. The selected winners and so many of the other student artists are impressive.

Bravo to these student artists and their teachers.
