QUITMAN

Elizabeth Harrell Greene

Elizabeth Harrell Greene, 91, died March 28, 2006, in Quitman, Ga., after a brief illness.

She was born Annie Elizabeth Harrell on June 22, 1914 to Joseph Edwin and Berlon Auvry Hodges Harrell. She was a homemaker and member of the Quitman United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Jim Benton of Pensacola, Fla.; her son James “Buzz” Greene of Quitman; a special niece Lynn Shipes. Surviving also are three loving granddaughters, Becky (Wayne) Gottshall, Samantha and Kathy Greene, along with four beautiful great-granddaughters, Jenna, Traci, Joana, and Tori; and two handsome great-grandsons, J.R. and Gannon. She leaves behind four devoted sisters, Polly (Ira) Eubanks, Jose (Pete) Bentley, Mable Teeter, Merle Culpepper; and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her adoring husband of 50 years, Jimmy Greene and her four brothers, Hammond, Jack, Sam, and Redding Harrell.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2006, at the Quitman United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jay Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Allen Everett Gray

Allen Everett Gray, 80, of Lake Park, died on Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at Lakehaven Nursing Home after a period of declining health. Born on Sept. 3, 1925, in Boston, Ga., he was the son of the late Silas Allen and Pearl Murkerson Gray and the widower of Willie Mae Ritter Gray. Mr. Gray retired Packaging Corporation of America in Clyattville. In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing and farming. He was a member of Sardis Baptist Church.

Survivors are his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dariel Tomlinson of Lake Park; sons and daughters-in-law, Allen Gray of Valdosta, Robert and Susan Gray, Terry and Dianne Gray all of Lake Park; stepson and his wife, DeVane and Mary Lou Ritter of Lake Park; and grandchildren Sara (Mike) Powers, Denise Gray, Rachel Gray, Darrin (Barbara) Tomlinson, Bill (Kim) Tomlinson, Kay (Allen) Marcatos, Aaron Gray, Tracy Hires, Shelley Gray, Austin Gray, Lisa (Woody) Speirs, Dee Ritter and great grandchildren, Bailey, Lacy, Evan, Carson, Carter, Caroline, Michael and Dylan.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2006, at Sardis Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Carter Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home.
