How to not look like a sissy on Super Bowl Sunday

SAVANNAH — It’s game time budgeteers . . . Well, almost. In just one more week, the Seattle Seahawks will battle the Denver Broncos for the privilege of being called NFL Super Bowl XLVIII champions!

I don’t know about you, but I’m pulling for the Broncos. Not that I have any ties to the team per se, but after the Seahawk’s Richard Sherman went on a juvenile tangent about 49’ers Michael Crabtree (that was painfully reminiscent of Kanye West’s declaration as the “number one rock star on the planet”), I would really enjoy watching him get put in his place. As talented as he may be, he had an opportunity to be a role model and rise above the pettiness, and instead he chose to act like a complete lunatic.

Congratulations Sherman, The Real Houswives of Atlanta was also on last Sunday and you still managed to be the biggest diva on television.

With that said, here are my tips and tricks to help you throw an epic and budget friendly Super Bowl party that will make even Sherman go speechless . . . Okay sorry, I had one more left in me.

Make foods that cater to large parties

10 servings of chili

2 cans of pinto beans,

2 cans of diced tomatoes

1 lb. of ground beef and

2 pack of chili seasoning.

The cost is roughly $10. Either use this as a main dish, or as a fancy hot dog topping.

My mom’s queso dip

1 block of velveeta cheese mixed

1 can of Rotelle diced

The cost is approximately $6.

Chicken wings

At most grocery stores, raw chicken wings are about $2.50 per pound, and one pound is roughly 16 wings. Say you want around 100 wings, you need about six pounds which would cost $15.

Then you need a bottle of buffalo sauce (my favorite is Frank’s RedHot) which is about $5. Your total cost now is around $20. I’m no math genius, but I’m pretty sure it would cost you more than $20 for 100 wings at most restaurants.
