VALDOSTA — Business Roundup

The long anticipated wait is over and Coyoacan is now open in Valdosta on St. Augustine Road. The Mexican restaurant still also has its location in Quitman, and is open for lunch in the afternoon and then in the evening for dinner.

I received a notice a couple of weeks ago that Two Friends in Summit Pointe would be closed for major renovations but the reopening date was supposed to be this week. When I checked on it this week, I found construction crews still there so it looks like they’re running a little behind. When they reopen the restaurant, it will be the Friends Grille and Bar, with the same great chef and staff but a whole new look.

The rebuild of the Wendy’s is moving along on St. Augustine, but it looks like they’re not going to meet the initial reopening date in two weeks. Look for the reopening later in November.

I’ve had a number of calls about Hungry Howie’s, and no, I haven’t been able to find anyone who knows why they suddenly closed a week or so ago. I know the popular pizza place was under new ownership, but not sure if and when they will reopen.

For those concerned about Val Optics recent closing, I understand if customers will email, someone will assist you.

ChiroCare Chiropractic and Massage Therapy just opened in town, with a ribbon cutting set for Tuesday at 11 a.m.. They are located 2922-B N. Oak St.

At 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday this week, Southwest Georgia Bank will hold a groundbreaking for their new commercial banking center, next to their main branch on N. Valdosta Road.

Hopefully an opening date will be set soon for the new steak house going in where the Tavern used to be on Highway 41 S. in Lake Park. I’ll keep you updated.

And I cannot believe another year has passed already, but the annual Holiday Open House held each year by more than a half dozen florists is this afternoon from 1 to 5 p.m. The shops go all out to decorate for the event, which features specials on holiday decorating, refreshments, music and more. Go by your favorite local florist this afternoon or try to get to all eight, but it’s always a good time.

That’s it for this week, but if there’s something I missed, please let me know!
