Happy Mother’s Day

VALDOSTA — Business Roundup

The Valdosta airport will soon have a new tenant as Air Methods, Inc., an air medical transport company, is opening a hub there. When the helipad opened at SGMC, they mentioned the possibility of bringing more personnel to Valdosta, and now they have, adding us to the list of 300 bases across the country for the helicopter transport company. They will also employ 21 people, from pilots to trauma nurses, and the company will have an official grand opening this week.

Good news this week revealed through the property transactions and a bit of online sleuthing. The undeveloped lot on North Valdosta Road, across from where Georgia Car Credit was, has been purchased for a new Dollar General store. Also, a development company bought the Regions Bank building on Patterson Street, and the Burger King on St. Augustine was sold this week. Not sure what that means for the last two, but good on the development aspect for the North Valdosta Road area.

Prince Automotive is expanding again, this time with a second used car location.

The dealership is now offering used cars for sale at the corner of Highway 84 and St. Augustine Road, where Elder Auto sales used to be.

Right down the road from there, if anyone knows what happened to Heidi’s or Sister’s this week, please share. The two were closed at the end of the week and I’ve had several folks call and ask.

Keep your fingers crossed for Hooters to come back, and also for a new company looking at the former Hollywood Video building on Gornto.

There is a new industrial park area under construction behind the Gold Plate and the Winn Dixie off Madison Highway, with at least one new business slated to go there already.

And the physicians and staff from Southern Urological Associates have moved into their new home on North Oak Street by the Winn Dixie plaza.

Lastly, the new Waffle House on Baytree Road officially opened for business this week. It’s located near the Jerry Jones intersection, across from Zacadoo’s.

That’s it for this week, but if there’s something I missed, please let me know!
