Scruggs named Leading Business of the Week

VALDOSTA — The Scruggs Company has been recognized by the Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce as the Leading Business of the Week for June 23rd. This award is presented each week to a business in good standing that has been a member of the Chamber for at least five years. The company will display the Leading Business of the Week banner, which is sponsored by New Hire Solutions, in their lobby for a week.

The Scruggs Company provides roadway, building and airfield construction as well as heavy equipment hauling to the Valdosta area and surrounding communities. "We've grown into many lines of business while employing local talent," said Ferrell Scruggs Jr. of his company's wide range of services. "We have been part of constructing nearly every road in the area." The company currently has permanent asphalt plant-mix facilities in Valdosta, Thomasville and Lenox as well as sand plant operations in Cook County and Montgomery County. Its geographic work area for construction has also expanded from South Georgia and North Florida to include all of the Southeastern United States.

The Scruggs Company works to ensure that each project is completed fully and efficiently and takes great pride in its employees’ determination to satisfy customer needs. "We employ the best personnel to correctly perform our work," said Ferrell Scruggs Jr. "Our work is not complete until the customer is satisfied."

The company's president also attributes some of The Scruggs Company's success to its status as a member of the Chamber, saying "the Chamber has always been a great resource for information as well as a great cheerleader for our business and community." He also asserts that the Chamber serves to keep The Scruggs Company "relevant and available to anyone looking to do business in the Valdosta area. The Chamber is the gateway to this community."

The Chamber would like to extend a special thank-you to New Hire Solutions, the official 2014 Sponsor of Leading Business of the Week.
