VALDOSTA — After more than two weeks of renovations and remodeling, Creekside Tavern steakhouse will reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 22, returning to the original concept for the restaurant.

According to Pat O’Neal, the emphasis is back on the dining experience with less emphasis on the nightclub atmosphere.

“We’re going to be featuring our award winning steaks, fresh fish, and other great menu items, along with more low-key entertainment that we think our diners will really enjoy,” he said.

The menu changes include bringing back the original Creekside salad, with the fruit and nuts, which is served in one large bowl to the entire table that everyone shares. Also, O’Neal says they have perfected their “Almost Shorty’s” onion rings, and will be offering seasonal chef specialties such as oysters and shrimp and grits.

“Each week, starting our opening night, we will have ‘Wine down Wednesdays’ from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with wine tastings and light appetizers,” O’Neal said.

In addition to the renovations, freshening of the decor, plus the addition of live plants, the bar area features a new custom built wine rack, with space for 300 bottles. O’Neal said they carry “everyone’s favorites” and try to rotate the selection of wines, keeping around a dozen or more on hand.

For entertainment their first week, Blake Brown will be featured Wednesday night, Pat Rutland and Donna Parker Adams will play and sing Thursday night, and Friday and Saturday nights, the Andrew

Brothers Dueling Pianos will give one of their entertaining performances. The patio area will again feature musicians as well, with Cody Turpen playing this week.

Along with earlier closing hours, Happy Hour is now from 5 to 6 p.m. with two for one appetizers and drink specials, and the private dining area is still available for birthday and anniversary dinners.

O’Neal said they will announce more details soon, but Creekside will host a couple’s special on Valentine’s Day this year, by reservation only.

The “new” Creekside Tavern steakhouse will be open at 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and close at 10 p.m. during the week and 11 p.m. on the weekend. Those hours may be extended to include dinner service Tuesday nights also in the near future.

Creekside is located at 1405 Gornto Road in Valdosta.
