Business This Week: New magazines out now!
Kay Harris
The Valdosta Daily Times
The November editions of the ValdostaScene magazine and South Georgia Business came out this week, with lots of informative articles, photos and things to know about your community.
The Scene cover features the Pick-In, which was held all day yesterday in Hahira. The nostalgic gathering promised to be a great time for family, and if you missed it, then you can catch up on the history this month and see photos from the event in the December edition.
The Scene also features a look at the upcoming holidays for the various religions here in our community, as well as some terrific features, an inside look at Baytree Pizza, and wonderful photos of people at places and events around town.
The South Georgia Business magazine takes a look at how several veterans in our community have successfully made the transition from the military to the “after” life in the civilian world. Their stories are inspiring, interesting and must reads, especially for those thinking about embarking on a second career.
Both magazines are available at The Times office on Troup Street or at Books-A-Million on Norman Drive. Read and be inspired!
Business After Hours
If you are a chamber member, then you need to go to the Business After Hours this week at Affinity Health Group on Kings Way. Just turn north on Highway 41 between Cass Burch and the Smok’n Pig and take the first right.
Dr. Scott Petermann hosts the event and he has recently brought new doctors into his wonderful eye practice, which is expanding and growing. I have an affinity for Affinity since the nice doc and his staff did my eyes nearly two years ago. It’s a wonderful feeling to be able to see without the aid of Coke-bottle lenses anymore.
So if you are interested in attending the Business After Hours event from 5 to 7 p.m., please RSVP to the chamber at (229) 247-8100.
Business Roundup
Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar is officially open as of tomorrow. The newest eatery to hit Valdosta is on Baytree Road near the Valdosta mall and features, well, wings, but lots of other cool dishes, too.
The new Creekside Tavern on Gornto Road will open around Nov. 18, if everything comes together as planned, and it should. Located in the former Mulldoons building by the Y, it’s going to be a restaurant, a club, and just a generally fun place to hang out.
I keep hearing that there’s supposed to be an English pub coming in near the mall too but no word lately.
