Belk is organizing a charity event which will take place on Saturday, Nov. 7.
Those who purchase Charity Day tickets through Friday will get 20 to 50 percent discounts at Belk on Saturday between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m..
Tickets cost $5 each, and the money benefits area nonprofit organizations like the Greater Valdosta United Way, South Georgia House of Hope, Adult Literacy Voluntary Program and more.
“It’s a way to give back to the community,” Paul Clingan, Belk store manager, said. “It’s also a win-win situation because you get a huge discount at Belk if you pay $5 for the charity ticket.”
Clingan said that people can buy tickets from any organizations represented at Belk on Saturday and enjoy a chance to shop at Belk at lower prices until 10 a.m.
The store has been doing charity events twice a year — during the spring and fall — for four years. Thava Howell, regional administration assistant for Belk in Valdosta, said that the list of organizations changes every year as they have new and different sponsors. So far 41 organizations are involved.
