The new issues of the Valdosta Scene and Adel, Lakeland, Nashville Scene are out now, with lots of interesting stories to read and enjoy.
The cover story of the Valdosta edition features Doug and Bev Henderson discussing the upcoming golf tournament they and friends initiated in their son, Doug’s, memory. The foundation in his name has raised thousands for area charitable causes.
The magazine also features an interview with Bobby Yarbrough of the United Way, and a look at the upcoming Heart Walk in November. Relationship advice from Mark Webb, photos from recent events, a local chef feature and a look at historical artifacts housed at Valdosta State University round out the issue.
The combined Adel, Lakeland, Nashville Scene features the new Station restaurant in Lakeland, a no-kill animal shelter in Nashville, and a visit to Circlestone Country Club in Adel, along with a number of other stories designed to showcase the wonderful things those communities have going on.
If you didn’t receive a copy in your paper, you can find the Scenes at Books a Million, a variety of area stores, and at the Times office.

My apologies to the readers who sent me questions to ask Charlie Gibson this week. Even when it looked like he was coming to town, earlier this week I was notified that an in-person interview was out of the question, but a phone interview was a possibility.
However, when the Southern leg of the bus tour was canceled due to the economic crisis, even that was canceled.
The producer indicated that since the news anchor blogs on the network’s Web site, readers who want to ask questions or post comments are welcome to do so, so for those who want to, it’s probably your best chance!
Business Roundup
It looks like Steamhouse Seafood may be getting a resurrection. The legal ads show that the name has been incorporated and a building permit shows the site on James Road is getting a facelift.
The Bojangles looks like it is also finally becoming reality. The sign has been up at the site on West Hill Avenue by the Holiday Inn for quite a while, so it’s nice to see it’s getting ready to be built.
Just up the road on Norman Drive, there was a sign saying office space for rent, but the sign is gone and a Murphy Express station is being built.
