Flood warning for Brooks, Lowndes counties

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. —

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TALLAHASSEE HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  BROOKS COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL GEORGIA...
  THIS INCLUDES THE CITY OF QUITMAN...
  LOWNDES COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL GEORGIA...
  THIS INCLUDES THE CITY OF VALDOSTA...

* UNTIL 1000 PM EDT

* AT 359 PM EDT...RADAR AND RAIN GAUGE OBSERVATIONS INDICATE THAT
  BETWEEN 2 AND 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN ACROSS BROOKS AND
  LOWNDES COUNTIES SO FAR TODAY. BANDS OF MODERATE TO OCCASIONALLY
  HEAVY SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE MOVING THROUGH THE AREA FOR THE NEXT
  SEVERAL HOURS WITH AN ADDITIONAL 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN POSSIBLE. A
  GRADUAL INCREASE IN FLOODING IS EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL
  HOURS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

AREAS OF STANDING WATER...OR FLOODING ALONG STREAMS AND RIVERS IS
EXPECTED. BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO
RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODING. MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN
AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THROUGH FLOODED ROADS.
