Valdosta High School will be hosting their 16th annual Wildcat Invitational baseball tournament beginning today until Saturday. The games will be played at Valdosta High and Lowndes High and will feature local teams in addition to other non-local schools, such as Pope from the Atlanta area and Lincoln from Tallahassee, Fla.
The tournament will give each team a chance to match up against a school that they possibly don’t get to play often.
“There will not be an overall winner for the tournament. We will match up teams that normally don’t play each other and watch the competition,” said Valdosta baseball coach Bart Shuman.
The admission fee for all games will be $5 for everyone with the exception of children under the age of 12.
“We’re really excited about having Lowndes and us in the tournament. Berrien and Cook are local teams that we will get a chance to see, plus a good team from Macon, and even the Atlanta area,” said Shuman.
The tournament begins today at 4 p.m. when Valdosta takes on Madison.
