Dr. Terry Tri, a local cardiologist, is the director of the intensive care unit, but all doctors have privileges to patients in the unit.
ICU provides all necessary services and other special services including endotracheal intubation, ventilator management, hemodynamic management, central venous access, arterial lines, tracheotomy care, thoracentesis, thoracostomy management, cardioversion, management of critical drips, dialysis and more.
Two new services are also offered. The first is peripherally inserted central catheras (PICC lines), advanced IV lines that are inserted in the arm then pushed through the vein to the heart area. These last for an extended period of time and allow medications to be administered without repeated stickings.
Smith Northview has also been approved for a rapid response team, a team of specially trained personnel that can respond hospital wide in emergency cases. These teams have been known to save many lives.
These new services are helping Smith Northview as it grows and thrives, providing quality care for patients in the metro Valdosta area.
