Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress consoles the mother of the 16-year-old injured in an accident involving a train earlier this year that caused the loss of his leg. The young man was given the $200 check from the city's Employee of the Month recipient Lt. Earl Durrance, who was being honored for helping to save the teen's life, for Christmas. The family was overcome with gratitude at the officer's generosity.
